NEXT-GENERATION OSA NEUROMODULATION

Mask-Free OSA Therapy,

Governed by Physiology

Synergy MedTech is developing a next-generation implantable neuromodulation platform for obstructive sleep apnea—designed to respond to changing physiological needs throughout the night and provide individualized airway support without a mask or tubing.

Synergy’s technology is under development, is not approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and is not available for commercial use.

OBSTRUCTIVE SLEEP APNEA

At Night, Breathing Is Disrupted. By Day, the Effects Continue.

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) occurs when the upper airway repeatedly narrows or collapses during sleep. These recurring events can interrupt airflow, fragment restorative sleep, and affect daily function and long-term health.

Disrupted Sleep

Repeated upper-airway collapse can reduce or stop airflow, often leading to snoring, gasping, drops in blood oxygen, and brief arousals from sleep.

Daytime Function Affected

Fragmented sleep may contribute to fatigue, daytime sleepiness, difficulty concentrating, slower reaction time, and problems with memory and decision-making.

Long-Term Health Risks

Untreated OSA is associated with higher risks of hypertension and cardiovascular conditions, including atrial fibrillation, heart failure, heart attack, and stroke.

About 40 million

U.S. adults are estimated to have moderate-to-severe OSA.

THE UNMET NEED

CPAP Is Effective—But Long-Term Use Can Be Difficult.

CPAP is an effective treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, but its benefits depend on consistent use. For some patients, the mask and tubing, pressurized airflow, nightly setup, and ongoing equipment care can create a substantial treatment burden. Discomfort, leaks, and disrupted sleep may contribute to partial-night use or discontinuation—leaving portions of sleep without therapy.

Nearly 50%

of new CPAP users in a French nationwide cohort had terminated therapy within three years.*

WHAT PATIENTS NEED

A Mask-Free Experience

No external mask or tubing during sleep.

Lower Nightly Treatment Burden

A treatment experience designed to fit more naturally into the patient’s night.

Support That Responds Through the Night

Support That Responds Through
the Night

Support designed around physiological needs that can change throughout sleep.

The unmet need is not simply another treatment option,

but a therapy designed to be easier to sustain night after night.

A PHYSIOLOGY-GOVERNED APPROACH

The Need for Airway Support
Can Change Throughout the Night.

Sleep is dynamic. As sleep stage, body position, and physiological state change, the support a patient needs may also vary. Synergy is developing a platform intended to align therapy with those changing needs while remaining within clinician-defined parameters.

Mask-Free

Designed to provide therapy without an external mask or tubing during sleep.

Physiology-Governed

Intended to align airway support with changing physiological needs across the night.

Clinician-Guided

Designed to operate within treatment parameters established by the clinician.

Personalized Over Time

Designed to support clinician-guided personalization as patient needs evolve over time.

Designed around the patient’s changing physiology—throughout the night and over time.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES

Patient-Centered by Design

LOWER NIGHTLY TREATMENT BURDEN

Designed without an external mask or tubing during sleep.

SUPPORT ACROSS CHANGING NEEDS

Intended to align airway support with physiological needs that may change throughout the night.

MINIMUM NECESSARY STIMULATION

Intended to avoid unnecessary stimulation and limit intervention to the level physiologically needed.

LOWER ADJUSTMENT BURDEN

Clinician-guided tools intended to support patient-specific therapy refinement and reduce repeated manual adjustments over time.

DEVELOPMENT

Functional Prototype Development Is Underway

Synergy MedTech is advancing development of a functional integrated prototype for its implantable OSA neuromodulation platform, with U.S.-based build planning and execution underway. Development is guided by identified patient needs, published evidence, and direct clinical input. A foundational U.S. patent application has been filed. The company is preparing for preclinical feasibility evaluation and planning future FDA engagement and IDE-enabling development toward clinical evaluation, subject to regulatory feedback and authorization.
